The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining IT infrastructure at the operational level with a very strong security mindset. He/she will be performing a wide variety of day-to-day IT operations activities and will provide service desk support, troubleshooting and incident response.

In the many areas where EIOPA relies on managed services, the IT Expert will be responsible for project, contract and vendor management.

The IT Expert reports to the Head of the IT Unit.

Main responsibilities

-Managing network infrastructure with the help of vendors (e.g. by implementing configurations; managing firewalls and access policies; applying secure network design and network segregation; monitoring health and traffic flows; and deploying hardware);

-Managing servers and delivering IT environments using off-site data centre and cloud infrastructure resources (e.g. by configuring, applying security baselines, patching, assessing against vulnerabilities, managing software licensing and upgrades; and setting up server resources for new users);

-Providing service desk support (e.g. level 3 support, including investigating, diagnosing and resolving incidents and problems escalated by other support lines);

– In close coordination with the security function, supporting the implementation of “Zero-Trust” architectures and principles, contributing to security design, implementation, maintenance and testing of security controls as well as support for incident response process (e.g. by implementing proactive, preventive, and reactive maintenance measures; using technology systems to detect and alert on suspicious events, patterns of anomalous network and security behaviour; managing identity and access controls, organisational security policies, and industry-proven security best practices across the on-site and cloud-based infrastructure systems);

– Liaising and integrating with other IT operations and service management processes (such as problem management, change management and configuration management) and the security function, as appropriate;

– Liaising with suppliers and service providers on matters including the escalation of incidents, submission of call-off orders for supplies and services, and the management of contracts and service level agreements;

– Managing and contributing to IT projects from design to implementation, including maintenance, release and documentation;

– Performing any other tasks as required.
