We offer:
A traineeship of 6 months within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Timor-Leste, starting in September 2021, or later if current home confinement measures due to COVID-19 are still in place by then. 2021.
The Political, Press and Information Section is in charge of following the political and trade relations between the European Union and Timor-Leste. It also handles all the press and media work of the Delegation.
Main tasks:
- Supporting the section team in drafting reports, researching and analysing specific policy topics related to EU / Timor-Leste relations.
- Attending events organised by the EU Delegation and/or its partners.
- Preparing press and information materials for their publication on our website, social media profiles, TV, radio and local press (drafting, translating, proof-reading of documents in English, Tetum and Portuguese).
- Assisting in the organisation of public diplomacy events across the country.
- Providing back-office support for the section staff (answering requests, taking notes, preparing meetings, preparing press clippings; etc.).

Qualifications or special requirements:
- Considering the very evolving context of the COVID-19 outbreak in the host country, only applicants currently residing in Timor-Leste will be considered
- Young graduates interested in international relations and the work of a diplomatic mission.
- Your degree should ideally be in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, economics, law, media and communication.
- You must have an excellent command of English and Tetum (written and oral), preferably also of Portuguese.
- You must have experience of working with social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
EU candidates currently residing in Timor-Leste must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
The Delegation informs that even if our Headquarters confirm the eligibility of the selected candidate, traineeships could be postponed, suspended or even cancelled considering the very evolving context of the COVID-19 outbreak in the host country.
