Council of the European Union

The Council of the European Union is an institution that recruits EU officials.  It is also known as Council of the EU, Council of Ministers or simply Council. This institution has its own Secretariat which only employs a limited number of EU officials that is why the council has one of the smallest staff among EU institutions. It is also the “hub” of national governments.  The staff members are those working in the legal service, sectoral services communication staff and other areas.  Due to the creation of European External Action Service (EEAS) in December 2010, the number of Council staff has been reduced.
