EPSO/AD/294/14 Competition for Administrators (AD 6) in the Field of Data Protection Announced

The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is organizing an open competition – EPSO/AD/294/14, based on qualifications and tests, to draw up a reserve list from which to recruit officials as ‘administrators’ for the European Data Protection Supervisor. The number of successful candidates sought is 20.

Admission tests:

The computer-based admission tests will be organized by EPSO only if the number of candidates exceeds a certain threshold which will be set by the Director of EPSO, as the appointing authority, after the deadline for applications.

You will be invited to sit the tests if you have validated your application on time and ofcourse, you must reserve a date to sit the tests.   You will sit three types of assessment tests, the content of which is validated by the selection board:

  1. The reasoning ability will be assessed by a verbal, numerical and an abstract reasoning test.

If admision  tests are not held, these reasoning tests will form part of the Assessment Centre. Also, various aspects of your professional experience will be take in consideration for the next step, the assesment centre.

At the Assesment Centre, you will sit three types of assessment tests, the content of which is validated by the selection board:

The reasoning ability will be assessed by means of: a verbal, numerical reasoning tests and an abstract reasoning tests.

Your specific competencies  will be assessed by means of:

  1. a structured interview on your competencies in the field, based on the information given in the ‘Talent Screener’ tab of your application.
  2. A case study;
  3. A group exercise and
  4. A structured interview.

EPSO/AST/134/14 — Competition Announced for Assistants (AST 3) in the Field of Parliamentary Work

The European Personnel Selection Office (EPSO) is organizing an open competition – EPSO/AST/134/14, based on qualifications and tests, to draw up a reserve list from which to fill vacant posts for officials as ‘Assistants’ in the European Parliament to work for one or more of the following sectors:

  • Assistance in parliamentary work;
  • Communication activities;
  • Correspondence and mail management;
  • Support tasks relating to the daily work of a committee/delegation/unit secretariat;

The number of successful candidates sought is 30.

The computer-based admission tests for the EPSO/AST/134/14 competition will be organized by EPSO only if the number of candidates exceeds a certain threshold which will be set by the Director of EPSO, as the appointing authority, after the deadline for applications.

At the preselection stage, your responses to the questions relating to the general and specific conditions will be processed to determine whether you can be included in the list of candidates who fulfill all the conditions for admission to the competition. The selection board will then screen the candidates eligible for the competition on the basis of their qualifications to identify those whose profile (particularly their diplomas and professional experience) best matches the duties and selection criteria set out in this notice.

You will sit three types of assessment tests, the content of which is validated by the selection board:

  1. The reasoning ability will be assessed by a verbal, numerical and an abstract reasoning test.

If admission tests are not held, these reasoning tests will be part of the assessment centre. Also, various aspects of your professional experience will be taken in consideration for the next step, the assesment centre.

EPSO/AD/293/14 Competition Announced In Five Fields of Expertise

EPSO is organizing open competitions – EPSO/AD/293/14 –  for administrators (AD 7) in the following fields:

  • Competition law (27 successful sought candidates);
  • Corporate finance (14 successful sought candidates);
  • Financial economics (25 successful sought candidates);
  • Industrial economics (15 successful sought candidates);
  • Macroeconomics (30 successful sought candidates).

The EPSO computer-based admission tests will be organized by EPSO only if the number of candidates exceeds a certain threshold which will be set by the Director of EPSO, as the appointing authority, after the deadline for applications. The threshold can vary from one field to another and you will be informed of the precise details via your EPSO account.

At the preselection stage, your responses to the questions relating to the general and specific conditions will be processed and then taken into consideration to determine whether you can be included in the list of candidates who fulfill all the conditions for admission to the competition. The selection board will then use the Talent Screener to select the candidates that best match the duties and selection criteria set out in this notice.

Within the Assessment Centre you will sit three types of assessment tests, the content of which is validated by the selection board:

  1. The reasoning ability will be assessed by a verbal, numerical and an abstract reasoning test (unless it was already organized as preselection test).
  2. A structured interview based on your competencies in the field and on the information provided in the ‘Talent Screener’ tab of your application.
  3. Your general competences will be assessed by a case study, a group exercise and a structured interview.

The deadline for the application, including the validation process is 25 November 2014 at 12 midday (Brussels time).

EPSO/AST/133/14 ICT Assistants Competition Announced

The EPSO/AST/133/14 AST 3 competition has recently been launched

There are 151 positions available split in 5 IT fields with the following requirements:

Field 1 — Information systems – 57 positions

Functional and technical analysis (describing needs, analyzing business processes, drawing up functional and technical specifications), designing software, database, and applications architectures.
Prototyping, development, testing, deployment, quality control, maintenance, and administration of information systems in a variety of architectures and environments (client-server, multi-tier, software packages such as SAP, or mobile or web oriented software).
Development, implementation, and maintenance of data warehouse and business intelligence systems.
Development, implementation, and maintenance of documentary systems.

Field 2 — Information systems security – 21 positions

Conducting systems risk analyses using recognised methodological tools (EBIOS, PILAR, etc.) and translating the conclusions into suitable security countermeasures to protect information systems.
Setting up security operating procedures for information systems, drawing up configuration guides (operating systems, databases, network filters, etc.), and helping to administer information systems security.
Performing IT and network security audits, information system penetration tests, and network security diagnostics.
Deploying and running automated log analysis tools, vulnerability analysis tools, network filters, IPS/IDS, and malware protection tools.
Deploying and running government-style encryption mechanisms (key management, accounting aspects, etc.).
Deploying and operating public key management infrastructures.

Field 3 — Networks and telecommunications – 18 positions

Defining solutions, implementing, managing, and supervising data network (LAN/WAN) services and voice/videoconferencing network services, and telecommunications services in general.
Administration, maintenance, and support for network and telecoms infrastructure services and equipment: active and passive equipment, routers, firewalls, proxies, load balancers, anti-spam, PABX, etc. Monitoring operation, performance, and security.
Managing and auditing network and telecom security.

Field 4 — Office IT infrastructure and data centre – 44 positions

Administration, maintenance, and support for the user environment. Configuring workstations, including mobile devices. Deploying updates to operating systems, software, and business applications. Configuring and monitoring workstation security.
Operating/managing data-processing centres: administration, maintenance, and support for services and equipment for authentication, management of file systems, databases, application servers, storage, backup, and archiving systems, virtualisation systems, directory and user provisioning services, management of mobile devices, e-mail, and other services normally provided by a data centre.
Project management, technology evaluation, and implementation of solutions in the sub-fields indicated.
User support in the subfields indicated.
Involvement in defining and testing the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Procedures (DRP).

Field 5 — Web – 11 positions

Technical architecture: defining technical web architectures (back office) taking account of the specific features of the content management tool used and of business needs.
Developing and configuring website and content management systems (CMS).
Configuration/development of validation workflows and publication of content.
Organising, setting up and/or monitoring operational website management services (with or without partial outsourcing). Drawing up procedures, statistics, reports and dashboards for monitoring activities as required.
Development work for social media (Facebook, etc.).
Graphic design and layout.

You are required to have 3 years relevant professional experience after having obtained an ICT diploma or 6 years relevant professional experience after secondary education attested by a diploma.

The deadline to apply  is  set for 15th July.
